Every year on December 3, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is observed around the world with the goal of promoting the rights and well-being of people with disabilities in all aspects of society.
This year's theme for International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2021 is "Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible, and sustainable post-COVID 19 world."
The United Nations has chosen this theme to highlight the challenges faced by disabled people during the global pandemic.
The annual observance of this day was established in 1992 by United Nations General Assembly Resolution 47/3 with the goal of raising awareness of the issues confronting people with disabilities in all aspects of political, social, economic, and cultural life.
