  • World Happiness Day is celebrated on March 20 since 2013. This day was first introduced by United Nations after an initiative by Bhutan, which believed in the importance of national happiness. 
  • International Day of Happiness is celebrated to remind us of the importance of happiness and to cherish every moment of life.
  • The theme for International Day of Happiness this year is ‘Be Mindful. Be Grateful. Be Kind.’
  • The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed March 20 as the International Day of Happiness in its resolution 66/281 of 12 July 2012.
  • The first celebration was held in 2013 and since then it has been used as a way to recognise the importance of happiness in the lives of people around the world.
