Every year on November 25, the ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is observed.
This day is observed to raise awareness about women's basic human rights and gender equality, as well as to prevent and respond to violence against women.
The United Nations General Assembly approved the Declaration on the ‘Elimination of Violence against Women’ in 1993.
'Orange the World: End Violence against Women Now!' is the theme of the day this year. Orange symbolises a brighter future without violence against women and girls.
