Every year on October 13th, the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction is observed. The day is marked around the world to promote a disaster-reduction and risk-awareness culture.
“International co-operation for developing countries to reduce their disaster risk and disaster losses “is the subject for this year's International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction.
Following a call by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to promote a disaster-reduction culture around the world, the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction was established in 1989.
