On December 9, the world commemorates International Anti-Corruption Day to raise awareness about the importance of eradicating corruption.
Corruption affects every aspect of our society and preventing it allows us to move closer to achieving our long-term development goals.
This year's theme is "Your right, your role: say no to corruption."
In December 2003, the United Nations took the first steps in combating international corruption. On October 31, 2003, the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) was drafted.
The United Nations Association Convention (UNAC) is a treaty that all UN member states have signed.
The purpose of this treaty is to legally bind members of states to work together to reduce corruption and enforce law and order.
