Every year on 28 October, the world celebrates International Animation Day, honoring animation as a creative and universal art form. Established in 2002 by the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA), the day commemorates Charles-Émile Reynaud’s first public animation screening “Théâtre Optique”, held in 1892 at Paris’s Grévin Museum. Over time, animation has evolved beyond entertainment to become a key medium in education, cinema, advertising, and digital media. Celebrated in more than 50 countries, the day features workshops, film screenings, and exhibitions, showcasing animation’s power to connect cultures and inspire imagination across generations.
