Tapan Kumar Deka, renowned for his expertise in counter-terrorism and radicalization cases, has been granted a one-year extension as the Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) until June 2025.
Deka is a 1988-batch IPS officer from the Himachal Pradesh cadre, bringing extensive experience to his role in overseeing India's domestic intelligence agency.
The decision to extend Deka's tenure was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing continuity and leadership stability in crucial national security operations.
