The Indian Navy formally commissioned INS Tamal (F71), a modern multi-role stealth frigate, at the Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad, Russia, on July 1, 2025. The vessel is the eighth in the Project 1135.6 series and the second ship under the Tushil-class follow-on order. The ceremony was attended by Vice Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command.
