Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will be the chief guest at India's 76th Republic Day celebrations on January 26.
India and Indonesia have a long history of relations that have evolved into a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in recent years.
Indonesia also plays an important role in India's Act East Policy and its vision for the Indo-Pacific region.
This is the fourth time that an Indonesian leader has been invited as the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations.
President Sukarno participated in the first Republic Day celebrations in independent India in 1950.
