  • National Geographic recently announced the winners of its annual Pictures of The Year awards. 
  • Karthik Subramaniam, a San Francisco-based software engineer of Indian origin has been named the grand prize winner for his photo titled "Dance of the Eagles.''
  • His photograph, titled "Dance of the Eagles", was taken at the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve in Alaska.
  • The photo was selected from nearly 5,000 entries across four categories: Nature, People, Places and Animals.
  • The title of the picture is being inspired by R.R.R Martin’s popular novel ‘A Dance with Dragons’.
  • His ‘Dance of the Eagles’ will be the cover-page of National Geographic’s May edition.
