  • Every year on December 4, India celebrates Navy Day to acknowledge the role of the Indian Navy and commemorate its achievements in ‘Operation Trident’ during the 1971 Indo-Pak War.
  • This year for the first time Navy Day celebrations are being held outside the national capital i.e. Visakhapatnam.
  • The Indian Navy is the maritime arm of the Indian Armed Forces, with the President of India as its commander in chief.
  • The "Father of the Indian Navy," Maratha monarch Chhatrapati Shivaji Bhosle, is the creator of the country's naval force.
  • Last year, the Indian Navy Day theme was decided as “Swarnim Vijay Varsh”. However, the theme for this year is yet to be out.
