Every year on December 4, India celebrates Navy Day to acknowledge the role of the Indian Navy and commemorate its achievements in ‘Operation Trident’ during the 1971 Indo-Pak War.
This year for the first time Navy Day celebrations are being held outside the national capital i.e. Visakhapatnam.
The Indian Navy is the maritime arm of the Indian Armed Forces, with the President of India as its commander in chief.
The "Father of the Indian Navy," Maratha monarch Chhatrapati Shivaji Bhosle, is the creator of the country's naval force.
Last year, the Indian Navy Day theme was decided as “Swarnim Vijay Varsh”. However, the theme for this year is yet to be out.
