  • The Indian Navy commissioned the indigenously designed and developed Kalvari Submarine Escape Training Facility "Vinetra" in Visakhapatnam on 13 September 2024.
  • The Winnetra facility includes a five-meter escape tower and an adjacent diving base, which will train submarine crews to safely exit the submarine in emergency situations.
  • The facility has been developed under the Make in India and Atmanirbhar India campaigns, and will help train crew of the Indian Navy's Kalvari-class conventional submarines.
