On December 23, Kisan Diwas, or National Farmers' Day, is observed across the country to commemorate the birth anniversary of India's fifth Prime Minister, Chaudhary Charan Singh.
The day is commemorated to honour Indian farmers' contributions and to highlight their significance in the country.
This year's commemoration will take place against the backdrop of the repeal of three contentious farm legislation.
The Indian government designated December 23, Chaudhary Charan Singh's birthday, as National Farmers' Day in 2001.
