The 'NAAM 200' event began at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
This event is being organized by the Sri Lankan government.
The event is being organized to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the arrival of Indian Origin Tamils (IOTS) in Sri Lanka.
Finance Minister of India Nirmala Sitharaman attended the event as the chief guest.
His participation in the event marked an important aspect of his visit to Sri Lanka, strengthening bilateral ties and historical ties between the two countries.
The Indian Finance Minister also inaugurated a branch of the State Bank of India in Trincomalee.
Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena also attended the event.
India-Sri Lanka Business Summit will also be organized during this visit of Nirmala Sitharaman.
The theme of this summit is 'Enhancing Connectivity: Partnership for Prosperity'.
