Rakesh Pal, Director General of the Indian Coast Guard passed away on 18 August 2024 in Chennai at the age of 59.
Rakesh Pal became the 25th Director-General of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) in July 2023, and had a distinguished career, spanning about 35 years.
His achievements included serving in key roles such as Commander of Coast Guard Region (North West) in Gandhinagar, Deputy Director General (Policy and Planning), and Additional Director General at Coast Guard Headquarters in New Delhi.

India won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, defeating New Zealand by 4 wickets to claim their third title and first ICC ODI trophy in 12 years.
