  • Indian boxers won a total of 43 medals at the Asian Under-22 and Youth Boxing Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan. 
  • India finished with a total of 12 gold, 14 silver and 17 bronze medals in both categories. The Indian U-22 team won 21 medals including seven gold, five silver and nine bronze medals while the youth section won 22 medals which included five gold, nine silver and eight bronze medals yesterday. 
  • India finished second in the medal tally behind hosts Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan won 48 medals.
  • In the Under-22 category, seven Indian boxers won gold medals yesterday. In the men's section, reigning youth world champion Viswanath Suresh defeated Kazakhstan's Karap Yernar 5-0 in the final of the 48kg weight category. 
  • In the final of the 57 kg weight category, Nikhil defeated Sabir Yerbolat of Kazakhstan while Akash Gorkha won 4-1 over Ruslan Kujeubaev of Kazakhstan in the 60 kg weight category.
