  • Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pandey was awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal by President Ram Nath Kovind.
  • Constituted in 1960, the Param Vishisht Seva Medal is granted to all positions of the Indian Armed Forces in acknowledgment of peace-time service of the most exceptional order.
  • General Manoj Pandey is the first engineer who has been posted as the Chief of Army Staff.
  • President Ram Nath Kovind also conferred 14 PVSM, four Uttam Yudh Seva Medals (UYSM) and 24 Ati Vishisht Seva Medal
  • General Pandey took over as the 29th Chief of the Army Staff on 30 April. 
  • Earlier he served as Chief of the Army Staff from 01 February and before that as Eastern Army Commander.s (AVSM) for distinguished service of an exceptional order.
