At the World Youth Archery Championships in Winnipeg, Canada, Chikitha Taniparthi made history as the first Indian compound archer to win the women’s under-21 individual title. The 20-year-old from Sultanpur, Telangana, who transitioned from karate to archery, defeated Korea’s Park Yerin in the final after overcoming Spain’s Paula Diaz Morillas in the semifinal. Meanwhile, 16-year-old Sharvari Shende from Pune secured gold in the women’s under-18 recurve individual event. India also bagged medals in other events, with Gatha Khadake and Agstay Singh earning the recurve mixed team bronze. Overall, India finished with four gold, two silver, and two bronze medals.
