  • Harnaaz Sandhu of India has been crowned Miss Universe, 21 years after Lara Dutta won the title in 2000.
  • Ms. Sandhu represented India at the 70th Miss Universe 2021 pageant, which was held today in Eilat, Israel.
  • The 21-year-old Harnaaz Sandhu from Punjab won the title, beating out Nadia Ferreira of Paraguay and Lalela Mswane of South Africa.
  • Andrea Meza, former Miss Universe 2020 from Mexico, presented Ms. Sandhu with the crown.
  • Only two Indians, actress Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000, have held this title before.
  • Ms. Sandhu, who began her pageant career at the age of 17, has already won Miss Diva 2021, Femina Miss India Punjab 2019, and placed in the Top 12 at Femina Miss India 2019.
