Daily Current Affairs / India Upgrades Kabul Mission to Full Embassy Amid Renewed Engagement
Category : International Published on: October 23 2025
India has officially upgraded its Technical Mission in Kabul to a full-fledged Embassy, marking a major diplomatic step. The move follows Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi’s visit to New Delhi and signals India’s intent to deepen engagement in Afghanistan. While the mission will be led by a chargé d’affaires, not an ambassador, India maintains its stance of non-recognition of the Taliban regime. The upgrade aims to boost development, humanitarian, and strategic cooperation, safeguarding India’s long-term interests in the region.
