The Indian Air Force has received the final unit of its initial batch of 16 Airbus C-295 military transport aircraft from Spain, the Indian Embassy in Spain announced. This aircraft, with a payload capacity of 5–10 tonnes and advanced avionics, will replace the ageing Avro fleet. With a flight endurance of up to 11 hours, the C-295 is a versatile tactical transport aircraft suitable for varied military missions. India’s September 2021 contract with Airbus Defence & Space includes a total of 56 C-295MW aircraft, of which 40 will be manufactured in India, boosting the country’s domestic aerospace production capabilities.
