  • DRDO has successfully test-fired a new generation ballistic missile 'Agni Prime' capable of carrying nuclear weapons from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island, located off the coast of Odisha.
  • The ‘Agni-P' missile is a two-stage solid propellant ballistic missile with dual backup navigation and guiding systems.
  • The range of this surface-to-surface ballistic missile is 1000 to 2000 kilometres.
  • This is the second time that the Agni Prime missile has been tested, before this the first successful test of the Agni Prime missile was done from the same test center on 28 June.
