  • India has successfully carried out the night trials of Agni-V nuclear-capable ballistic missile off Odisha coast.
  • The missile test firing was conducted from APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast at around 5.30 pm yesterday.
  • The missile can hit targets beyond 5,000 kilometres.
  • It is a fire-and-forget missile, which cannot be stopped without an interceptor missile.
  • The last Agni-V test was conducted last year in October.
  • The Agni-5 missile uses a three-stage solid fuel engine.
  • The Agni 1 to 4 missiles have ranges from 700 km to 3,500 km and they have already been deployed.
