In a global list that measures business bribery risks, India has dropped to 82nd place in 2021, down five places from 77th last year.
According to this year's data, North Korea, Turkmenistan, Venezuela, and Eritrea have the highest risk of commercial bribery, while Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and New Zealand have the lowest risk.
According to the data, India ranked 77th in 2020 with a score of 45, while it ranked 82nd this year with a score of 44.
The TRACE Bribery Risk Matrix assesses the likelihood of bribe demands in 194 jurisdictions.
It was first published in 2014 to address a need in the business community for more reliable and nuanced information about the risks of commercial bribery around the world.
The ranking of countries is based on four factors - business interactions with the government, anti-bribery deterrence and enforcement, government and civil service transparency, and capacity for civil society oversight which includes the role of the media.
