  • India’s Rhythm Sangwan has won the bronze medal in the women’s 10-metre air pistol event at the ISSF World Cup 2023 for rifle and pistol shooters in Baku, Azerbaijan.
  • She scored 219.1 in the final to finish third behind Anna 2016 Rio Olympic champion Anna Korakaki of Greece and 2004 Athens Olympics gold medallist Olena Kostevych of Ukraine.
  • It was Sangwan’s first individual senior medal at the shooting World Cup.
  • In the qualification round, 19-year-old Rhythm Sangwan shot 581 to finish third and qualify for the finals.
  • India has sent a 34-member team to the ISSF World Cup Baku 2023. This event will end on May 14.
  • For the shooting World Cup in Baku, the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) has adopted the Tokyo 2020 Olympics format. 
  • The semi-final stage has been removed from the current tournament. The competition only has one round of qualification, from which the top eight go to the final.
