  • The country’s first solid waste-to-hydrogen plant will be set up in Pune at more than Rs 430 crore.
  • The plant will be built by sustainable solutions provider The Green Billions Ltd (TGBL), which has signed a 30-year agreement with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
  • Variate Pune Waste to Energy Private Ltd will be managing and utilising the municipal waste of 350 tonnes per day (TPD) for generating hydrogen for 30 years. 
  • This waste will comprise biodegradable, non-biodegradable and domestic hazardous waste.
  • The first 10 tonne reactor will be installed by November 2023 and the target to complete the entire plant is November 2024.
