  • National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) today announced that it has commenced India's first green hydrogen blending operation in the Piped Natural Gas (PNG) network in Kawas, Surat, Gujarat.
  • The first molecule of green hydrogen from the project was set in motion by P Ram Prasad, Head of Project, Kawas, in presence of other senior executives of NTPC Kawas and GGL.
  • NTPC and GGL have achieved this milestone in less than a year's time since the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone on July 30th 2022.
  • This facility is ready to supply H2- NG (natural gas) to households of Kawas township at Adityanagar, Surat, Gujrat.
  • This facility produces green hydrogen by the process of electrolysis where water is split into two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen using the process of electrolysis.
