  • India's rank on the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) for 2023 is 93 out of 180 countries.
  • In the previous year (2022), India was ranked at 85, sharing the spot with five other countries, including Maldives.
  • The CPI is an annual index released by Transparency International, a global civil society organization.
  • India's score on the CPI for 2023 has dipped by one point compared to the previous year, standing at 39.
  • The CPI ranks countries and territories based on their perceived levels of public sector corruption, with scores ranging from zero (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean).
