India has proposed supplying its indigenously developed Akash surface-to-air missile system to Brazil during Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s meeting with Brazilian Vice-President Geraldo Alckmin and Defence Minister José Múcio Monteiro Filho in New Delhi. The talks focused on strengthening defence cooperation, including joint research, co-production, and technology transfer. Developed by DRDO, the Akash missile can engage multiple aerial threats like fighter jets, drones, and cruise missiles. Brazil has shown strong interest in the system, marking a major step in Indo-Brazil defence ties and advancing India’s goal of becoming a global hub for defence exports under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
