The Government of India under the Ministry of Culture has initiated a programme to map and document all villages under Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar (MGMD) Programme through National Mission on Cultural Mapping (NMCM).
The National Mission on Cultural Mapping (NMCM) aims to catalog the cultural heritage of 6.5 lakh villages in India, focusing on creating a comprehensive database of artists, art forms, and resources.
The initiative seeks to raise awareness of cultural heritage, map cultural profiles of villages, and establish a national register of artists.
NMCM will develop an IT-enabled platform, including a web portal and mobile app, to facilitate cultural engagement and access to information.
