  • India pledged to achieve 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, and renewable energy capacity reached 217 GW by 20th of this month (January 2025).
  • Last year, India added a record 24.5 GW of solar power and 3.4 GW of wind power capacity, adding to the country's clean energy capacity.
  • These states contributed 71 percent of the total solar installations in the country, making them the top performers.
  • With a 53 percent increase compared to 2023, 4.59 gigawatts of new rooftop solar capacity was installed, in which PM Surya Ghar Yojana was a significant contributor.
