India pledged to achieve 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, and renewable energy capacity reached 217 GW by 20th of this month (January 2025).
Last year, India added a record 24.5 GW of solar power and 3.4 GW of wind power capacity, adding to the country's clean energy capacity.
These states contributed 71 percent of the total solar installations in the country, making them the top performers.
With a 53 percent increase compared to 2023, 4.59 gigawatts of new rooftop solar capacity was installed, in which PM Surya Ghar Yojana was a significant contributor.
