Indian scientists have developed indigenously manufactured 3D-printed Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) under Mission Mausam, a ₹2,000 crore programme to strengthen the country’s weather observation network. The first batch will be deployed in Delhi from February 2026. Fully solar-powered, these AWS units record temperature, humidity, wind speed, and rainfall in real time, enabling accurate hyper-local forecasts. The technology reduces production costs, allows flexible design, and ensures faster large-scale deployment, boosting India’s climate monitoring and forecasting capabilities.
