  • India captain Sunil Chhetri has been named as the 2021-22 AIFF Men’s Footballer of the Year, winning the award for a seventh time in his career.
  • In addition, Manisha Kalyan has been named as the 2021-22 AIFF Women’s Footballer of the Year. Kalyan, who won the Women's Emerging Footballer of the Year for last season, was nominated by her team's head coach Thomas Dennerby.
  • Chhetri, the third highest goal scorer among active international players, was first named for the award in 2007. He then went on to win it in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018–19 seasons.
