  • The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare held a bilateral meeting with the Food and Drug Authority of Bhutan (BFDA) on the sidelines of the Global Food Regulatory Summit at India Mandapam in Delhi.
  • The agreement reflects the mutual commitment to enhance food safety, maintain a graded regulatory framework, simplify food import procedures and promote technical cooperation.
  • The agreement aims to recognise BFDA's official control over food business operators (FBOs) by FSSAI. 
  • The objective of the agreement is to enhance technical cooperation between FSSAI and BFDA and to establish a functional mechanism to facilitate and develop trade between the two countries.
