The government has restricted the import of laptops, computers and tablets with immediate effect.
The ministry stated in the notification that there would be an exemption from the Import Licencing requirements for the import of one laptop, tablet, all-in-one personal computer, or ultra small form factor computer, including those purchased from e-commerce portals through post or courier.

· Immediate restrictions on importing laptops, tablets and personal computers.

· Restriction on electronics imports to boost local manufacturing.

· Government said imports will be allowed with valid license.
