  • The government has restricted the import of laptops, computers and tablets with immediate effect.
  • The ministry stated in the notification that there would be an exemption from the Import Licencing requirements for the import of one laptop, tablet, all-in-one personal computer, or ultra small form factor computer, including those purchased from e-commerce portals through post or courier.

 

·       Immediate restrictions on importing laptops, tablets and personal computers.

 

·       Restriction on electronics imports to boost local manufacturing.

 

·       Government said imports will be allowed with valid license.
