Indian Institute of Technology-Patna (IIT-P) secures a patent from the Government of India for its lightweight, compact, and portable inverter, signaling a significant breakthrough in the field of portable power technology.
The patented technique is poised to bolster India's self-reliance in portable power modules like inverters and UPS, addressing a critical need for reliable power solutions.
IIT-P gains a 20-year copyright for the commercial use of the patented technique, empowering the institute to capitalize on its innovation for the next two decades.
Developed under the startup scheme 'Portable Power Technology' at IIT-P's incubation center, the inverter is the result of collaborative efforts by a team of five young scientists under the guidance of Academic Dean A K Thakur.
The inverter boasts an integrated design, combining battery and inverter in one unit, significantly reducing weight and promoting cost-effectiveness. Additionally, it supports clean and green energy generation, with improved battery life and durability compared to conventional counterparts.
