Researchers at IIT Jodhpur’s HESTECH Lab are pioneering flexible semiconductor sensors for continuous health monitoring. Utilizing Organic Electrochemical Transistors (OECTs), these devices can simultaneously track physiological signals like heart rate and biochemical markers in fluids like saliva or blood.
Unlike traditional rigid electronics, these soft sensors adhere comfortably to the skin, bridging the gap between clinical diagnostics and daily wearable tech. Beyond civilian healthcare and point-of-care diagnostics in rural areas, this technology holds significant potential for the defense sector, allowing real-time monitoring of soldier fatigue, dehydration, and heat stress in extreme environments.
