Former India cricketer Hrishikesh Kanitkar has been appointed the batting coach of the women's cricket team.
The top-order batter Kanitkar, who represented India in 2 Tests and 34 one-dayers has a significant experience in coaching.
He has previously coached Goa and Tamil Nadu Ranji teams and was also part of the VVS Laxman-led coaching staff in the recently concluded men's white-ball series in New Zealand.
Kanitkar was also the coach of the U-19 cricket team which earlier this year won the World Cup.
On the other hand, former head coach of the women’s team Ramesh Powar will now join Laxman at the National Cricket Academy as part of the restructuring module of the BCCI.
