  • Eyeing a possible deal for light combat aircraft (LCA) Tejas in Malaysia, state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to open its first international marketing and sales office in Kuala Lumpur.
  • The move comes at a time when Malaysia looks to Tejas as a Fighter Lead-in Trainer (FLIT) aircraft for the Royal Malaysian Air Force.
  • HAL had submitted a proposal for the supply of 18 FLIT LCAs after the Malaysian Defense Ministry issued a global tender in October 2021
  • The office in Kuala Lumpur will serve as a base to expand HAL’s services throughout South-East Asia and will not be limited to Malaysia.
