  • Defence PSU Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has handed over the advanced light helicopter mark-3 (ALH-Mk3) to the government of Mauritius.
  • The helicopter is to be used by Mauritian Police Force. In future, HAL will provide technical and maintenance support for the helicopters.
  • ALH stands for Advanced Light Helicopter. It is one of the advanced helicopters of the Indian Air Force. 
  • It has Electro optical sensors, a full glass cockpit, Shakti engines, searchlights with high intensity, etc. 
  • In June 2022, these helicopters were commissioned into the Indian Coast Guard operating in the Gujarat coastal areas.
  • HAL had signed a contract with Govt. of Republic of Mauritius in January 2022 for export of one ALH Mk III to Mauritius Police Force. ALH Mk III is a multi-role, multi-mission versatile helicopter in 5.5 tonne category.
  • The delivery will boost the ties between India and Mauritius. The country is important for India for its geopolitical location in the Indian Ocean.
