  • The Indian Council of Agricultural Research-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (ICAR-NBAGR) has recognized Gaddi, an indigenous dog breed of the Himalayas.
  • The dog population is now less than 1000 and the breed is on the verge of extinction as it has not been recognized by any major kennel club so far.
