Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched the 'Mukhyamantri Bal Poshan Aahar Yojana' to provide nutritious food to children in government schools.
It will complement the existing mid-day meal scheme and aims to provide nutritious meals to students from nursery to class eight in 15,181 schools.
Under this scheme, boiled eggs or fruits will be provided to school children once a week.
At present, about 5,34,293 lakh children are benefiting from the Mid-Day Meal Scheme. Under the new initiative, they will now get additional nutrition.
