  • Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched the 'Mukhyamantri Bal Poshan Aahar Yojana' to provide nutritious food to children in government schools.
  • It will complement the existing mid-day meal scheme and aims to provide nutritious meals to students from nursery to class eight in 15,181 schools.
  • Under this scheme, boiled eggs or fruits will be provided to school children once a week.
  • At present, about 5,34,293 lakh children are benefiting from the Mid-Day Meal Scheme. Under the new initiative, they will now get additional nutrition.
