  • The Haryana Assembly passed a bill on 19 November 2024 to ensure job security to contractual employees till the age of retirement. 
  • The Haryana Contractual Employees (Security of Service) Bill, 2024 aims to provide the essential security of service, improve the service conditions of contractual employees, and fulfill the government's commitment, thereby ensuring stability and continuity in the functioning of government departments and the welfare of long-serving contractual employees.
  • The bill will replace an ordinance promulgated in August this year.
  • According to the bill, an eligible contractual employee will be one who is appointed on contract by a government organization and is in the service of such organization on the appointed date and is receiving a remuneration of Rs 50,000 per month or is posted by the Haryana Skill Employment Corporation (HKRN) under the Deployment of Contractual Workers Policy, 2022 and is in the service of the government organization on the appointed date.
