The central government's policy think-tank Niti Aayog has awarded the first rank to Uttarakhand's Haridwar in the basic infrastructure category among 117 aspirational districts in India.
Along with the title of being India’s Best Aspirational District, the district will also receive an additional allocation of Rs 3 Crores.
Haridwar District has been allocated to Union Commerce and Industries Minister Piyush Goyal who has taken active interest in the development of the district.
The Aspirational Districts Programme (ADP) was launched in 2018, under which 117 districts were identified from across India to focus on their development.
