Gretchen Walsh set a new world record in the 100-meter women's butterfly at the 2024 US Olympic Swimming Trials, clocking 55.18 seconds.
Walsh surpassed Sarah Sjöström's previous world record of 55.48 seconds, which was set during the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Walsh's new record by more than half a second highlights her exceptional performance and places her as a frontrunner in international swimming competitions leading up to the 2024 Olympics.
