The Greek parliament elected former speaker Konstantinos Tassoulas as president, who garnered the support of 160 MPs and will succeed Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
Protesters outside the parliament were angered by the decision to appoint him last month, as they demanded justice for a deadly train accident that occurred in 2023.
