The ministry of home affiars on 12 July 2024 released a notification to declare June 25 as 'Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas' (Constitution Murder Day).
The notification aims to commemorate the struggles and sacrifices of individuals who opposed the abuse of power during the Emergency era in India.
'Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas' acknowledges the defense of constitutional values and the efforts made to uphold democracy during a challenging period in Indian history.
June 25 marks the anniversary of the Emergency imposed in 1975, highlighting the importance of safeguarding constitutional principles and democratic freedoms.
