Govind Dholakia has been appointed the new chairman of Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB), India's second diamond trading hub.
He was recently nominated by the BJP as a Rajya Sabha MP from the state, adding to his prominent roles in both politics and the diamond industry.
His appointment follows the resignation of Vallabh Lakhani, who had resigned from the post after expressing his intention to hand over the project upon completion.
Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) has the distinction of being the second diamond trading center of India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated this important center in December 2023, highlighting its importance in India's diamond and jewelery business landscape.
