The Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs has introduced a major amendment to the Vegetable Oil Products, Production and Availability (Regulation) Order, 2011, aiming to enhance compliance in edible oil data reporting. This regulatory shift is framed under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, and follows the earlier repeal of food regulations by the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The amendment seeks to streamline edible oil availability and boost transparency in production data.
