The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the construction of a 46 km four-lane highway between Marakkanam and Puducherry in Tamil Nadu under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) at a cost of ₹2,157 crore. The stretch is part of NH-332A, which currently operates as a two-lane road and faces severe congestion, especially near densely populated areas and major towns. The upgraded highway is expected to improve connectivity between Chennai, Puducherry, Viluppuram, and Nagapattinam.
